LAHORE: Government of Punjab has approved the summary seeking to appoint additional 1,050 commandos in Special Protection Unit formed for VVIPs.
Government has issued an estimated amount of Rs 573 million from supplementary grant.
According to the reports, the issue was raised in standing sub-committee’s meeting in which it was said that more than 300 commandos would be deployed outside the residencies of government officials.
During the meeting, Punjab police urged the governmental authorities for recruiting more officials, as majority of the guards are already performing duties with political personalities.
They also hinted towards enhancing the security for the foreigners, to avoid any untoward incident.
Meanwhile, standing cabinet committee forwarded the summary to Chief Minister after approving it.
Punjab Home Minister said that special training would be given to the newly hired members.
