KARACHI: The anti-corruption police carried out a raid at the residence of the controller of examinations of Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) on the early hours of Thursday.
The BIEK Controller of Examinations Imran Chishti was not present at his house when the raid was conducted. Due to this, the raiding team was not successful in gathering any sort of evidence related to the matter at hand nor could it get any helpful information. The team carried out its questioning from residents of the area and left without achieving any significant results. According to sources, the anti-corruption team aimed to investigate Chishti on allegations of corruption and tampering of examinations results. Meanwhile, BIEK Chairman Akhtar Ghauri, who is also a suspect in the same case, has managed to abscond.
Earlier, the government had decided to carry out an investigation against the chairman after the controller of examinations alleged that the chairman was ‘selling’ top positions in intermediate examinations.
