ISLAMABAD: Information Technology and Telecommunication Minister Anusha Rahman Wednesday said that the subcommittee on electoral reforms had completed consensus to end horse trading in Senate elections.
Briefing media after a meeting, she said political parties would provide lists of their candidates to Election Commission (EC) according to their number of members in assemblies.
She also said the EC would notify about the new senators after the current ones retire, adding that the new process of senator’s election would be discussed at the floor of the house and that the committee had proposed barring dual nationality holders from the becoming parliament members.
The meeting was held at the Parliament House under the chairmanship of Zahid Hamid.
