ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Wednesday adjourned the hearing of the disqualification petition against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan and Jehangir Tareen till February 15.
A five member bench of ECP took up the disqualification case against Imran Khan and Jehangir Tareen for hearing on Wednesday.
During the course of the hearing, PTI counsel Naeem Bokhari requested more time for filing his reply to the references. The ECP chief, on this request, gave him time till February 14.
PTI spokesperson Fawad Chaudhary, while talking to media outside the ECP office said that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN-N) was wasting the election commission’s time by filing more and more petitions against PTI. He also remarked that National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq was continuously showing his bias on the issue.
He also criticised PMLN-N ministers including Danyal Aziz and Talal Chaudhary, noting that both were absent during the ECP proceedings though the petitions had been filed by their side against the PTI. He pointed out that on the other hand they remained at the forefront of the PML-N’s delegation in the Supreme Court during the Panama leaks hearing.
Chaudhry highlighted the fact that Muhammad Zubair had been appointed as the Sindh governor for lying against the PTI; however Danyal Aziz and Talal Chaudhary had not been given any ministry so far.
Fawad further taunted the two PML-N members, saying that his party would launch a campaign to get both the aforementioned party members ministry positions in order to get rid of them.
