ISLAMABAD:Islamabad Police along with Pakistan Rangers and other security agencies have conducted search operations in various areas of the city and apprehended as many as 100 suspects, including 12 Afghan nationals.
According to details, law enforcement agencies raided and checked slum areas, inns, hotels and restaurants. These measures were being taken to ensure foolproof security and to keep a vigilant eye on the suspected elements.
During the operation, they searched 300 houses and took 100 suspects into custody. The areas where search operations were conducted including Faziabad, Muslim Colony, Bara Kahu, DhokeGillani, Nan Sikh and adjoining areas.
Search operation in Secretariat area was conducted by SP City Zone Zubair Ahmed Sheikh, SHO Hakim Khan, officials of Rescue 15, City Zone, Anti-Riot Unit and lady police. They arrested 12 suspects after searching more than 300 houses.
During the operation, police also recovered arms, three motorbikes without documents while all suspects were shifted to the police station for further investigation.
Meanwhile, search operation in Industrial area was conducted by ASP Industrial-Area, SHO Industrial Area, officials of Rescue 15, City Zone, Anti-Riot Unit and lady police. Police nabbed 45 suspects, including three Afghan nationals,who were shifted to police station for further investigation.
Later, SSP Islamabad SajidKiani said that the purpose of this search operation was to ensure high vigilance in the city,adding that all effortswould be made to ensure protection of lives and properties of citizens. He also appealed the citizens to remain vigilant and inform police in case of any suspicious activity around them.
