ISLAMABAD: The Information Ministry has a pivotal role in projecting the soft image of any country, besides integrating diverse cultures to spread peace, tolerance and harmony, said State Minister for Information Marriyam Aurangzeb in a meeting with Saudi Ambassador Abdullah Marzouk AL-Zahrani, who called on her in Islamabad on Tuesday. The minister said that the people and the leadership of Pakistan hold the custodian of the two holy mosques in high esteem, and has special place for the brotherly people of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Marriyam stated that bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries were deep rooted in common religious values and shared history of mutual cooperation in diverse fields. “It is immensely satisfactory that the historical relations between the two brotherly countries are now being translated into a strong cultural partnership,” she maintained. The minister shared a proposal regarding joint production and broadcasting with Saudi Arabia to expose people of the two countries to each other’s best practices and trends. “Mutual cooperation and sharing of expertise will enhance understanding between the coming generations of the two countries, which will ultimately contribute to the benefit of the Ummah,” she said. The Saudi ambassador said that the role of media was critical for promoting friendship between the two countries. He stressed the need for enhanced interactions between the two countries in the field of information and culture. Later, the ambassador extended an invitation to the minister to visit Saudi Arabia to which she accepted.
