ISLAMABAD: Hours after the Dawn Leaks issue was settled between Pakistan Army and the government, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman reiterated his demand to make the inquiry report public, saying the nation was being ‘kept in the dark’.
In a series of tweets in reaction to the statements over the issue by the Inter-Services Public Relations and the interior ministry, Imran said the issue was about national security, and the nation needs to know what was ‘settled’.
“[The] nation [is being] kept in dark on how national security breach resolved,” he tweeted. “Manner in which Dawn Leaks issue has been resolved shows clearly there is one law for the powerful and another law for the weak.”
He added, “Inquiry Commission Report must be made public.”
Pakistan People’s Party leader Aitzaz Ahsan said that the government had succeeded in saving Maryam Nawaz from the Dawn Leaks scandal. “Maryam and the name of the media cell being run by her were not taken hence she has been cleared,” he said. Aitzaz said that it was apparent for all to see that all matters had been resolved between the civilian and military leadership. He urged ISPR chief Major General Asif Ghafoor to resign. “The Pakistan Army spokesperson should have resigned rather than taking back his tweet,” he said.
Chief of Awami Muslim League Shiekh Rasheed claimed that the government wants to remove ISPR DG over Dawn Leaks while military wants removal of Interior Minister Chaudhary Nisar.
