ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Friday asked all the ministries, divisions and government organisations for immediate measures for the use of Urdu as official language, as it was a constitutional requirement.
Talking to Adviser on National History and Literary Heritage Irfan Siddiqui, who called on him here at the PM House, the prime minister said all the government departments need to focus on the ten points already given in this regard. He also asked that a report be submitted to him to show progress made for use of Urdu as the official language.
PM Nawaz also called for publishing of books on national, historical and famous personalities of Pakistan to apprise the young generation about their contributions for the country. He also asked that a comprehensive package be worked for the patronage and welfare of poets, writers and intellectuals that addresses their problems and issues. He said these people were the real heritage of the country and it was the obligation of the government to duly acknowledge their role.
