ISLAMABAD: The government has allocated Rs 811.788 million for 27 projects of Ministry of Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage, including 20 million for establishment of the National Film Academy, in the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) for the year 2017-18.
A sum of Rs 100 million has also been set aside for modernisation of cameras and production unit of the Pakistan Television Corporation, while Rs 50 million has been allocated for replacement of equipment of the studio and the control room at the PTV Academy.
Other allocations include Rs 100 million for replacement of medium-wave transmitters in Mirpur and Rs 75 million for upgradation of the monitoring system up to 250 television channels. As many as Rs 50 million were earmarked for establishment of Sautul Quran FM Network Phase-II, while Rs 50 million were earmarked for institutional strengthening of the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA).
