ISLAMABAD: The drug trade business continues to thrive in Adiala Jail of Rawalpindi without any fear of authorities.
According to sources, the use of drugs became common due to alleged connivance provided by the jail administration. A powerful mafia of drug peddlers has taken deep roots inside the jail with the blessing of jail administration. They pay a due share to the jail management regularly. Sources said that during the previous year drugs, mobiles, USB devices, SIM cards and cash were recovered from 151 prisoners.
Sources disclosed that a bottle of liquor concealed in a water bottle was recovered from a prisoner and hashish was recovered from 47 inmates, while heroin was recovered from 29 prisoners. Meanwhile, mobile SIMs were recovered from 24 prisoners, mobile were recovered from 7 inmates and cash was recovered from other prisoners in 2016.
