KARACHI: Karachi faces acute shortage of petrol due to country-wide strikes by Oil Tankers Contractors Association (OTCA) against high sales tax imposed on oil transportation.
Petroleum Dealers Association chairman said that 10 to 30% of the petrol stations in Karachi had a dry run. It is reported that some petrol pumps of Pakistan State Oil were also facing acute petrol shortage. The petrol shortage caused trouble to the citizens.
A top official has called a meeting of stakeholders to resolve the issue. However, OTCA has allowed partial movement of oil products to pave the way for talks with the federal government.
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has called a report from Sindh Transport Secretary Taha Farooqui in this regard and asked PSO and oil companies to resolve the issue through talks with oil tankers association.
