KARACHI: Residents of Clifton and Cantt Board reached a successful negotiation following which the former ended their protests
A meeting has been decided upon in which the residents can put forward their demands, one of which is the cancellation of the Rs500 tax levied on each tanker by the Cantt Board.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) MPA Khurram Sher Zaman said they would stand by the people and keep fighting until they get access to their basic rights.
One of the other demands is the issuing of an apology from the chief executive to the residents for misbehaving with them.
The residents protested on Friday but stopped after negotiations.
PTI MPA Samar Ali Khan had said the tax was levied with taking the local councilors on board. However, when asked, CBC Additional CEO Arfeen Zubair said they had imposed the tax so that people did not order extra tankers.
