ISLAMABAD: The membership of 17 members of national and provincial assemblies still stands suspended due to their failure to file details of their assets in the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
The notification of 17 members is available at the website of the ECP. The law makers whose membership was suspended since October 15 2016 for not furnishing details of assets include, Shaharyar Afridi, MNA, Nusret Seher Abbasi, MPA, Qumer Abbas Rizvi, Shanaz Baigum, Mukish Kumar Chawla, MQM member Khalid-Bin-Welayat and Punjab Assembly members Malik Sajad, and Sardar Muhammad Jamal.
A statement issued by the ECP stated these suspended members cannot participate in the legislation process and assembly proceedings. Notification of suspension was issued by 15th October and details of assets have to be filed in the ECP till September 30.
