HYDERABAD: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Friday inaugurated the one-kilometer-long Thatta-Sujawal bridge being built on the Indus river.
The four-lane bridge was built in a record period of 21 months at a cost of Rs2.8 billion. The chief minister formally cut the ribbon to inaugurate the bridge and later traveled across it by car. Addressing the inaugural ceremony, he said that the PPP government was working on development projects across the province. The bridge would be used for transporting heavy machinery to Tharparkar where the Thar Coal Project was being carried out, and to facilitate the people of Thatta and Sujawal districts.
He said that the PPP would seek votes in the next elections on its performance. Shah also noted that the Sindh government was working on various development projects including Dhandhari Bridge in Zulfiqarabad, Ghotki- Kandhkot Bridge and Nawabshah-Sanghar road. Provincial ministers Imdad Pitafi, Muhammad Ali Malkani, MPA Rukhsana Shah, Commissioner Hyderabad Kazi Shahid Pervez and a large number of PPP workers were also present at the occasion.
