ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan has begun considering names for the appointment of new provincial election commissioner in Punjab.
Punjab Election Commissioner Masood Ahmed Malik will retire from service on superannuation today (Wednesday). Sources said that Joint Election Commissioner Sharifullah is the most suitable candidate for the job. In case a candidate is not finalised, Sharifullah will be made the acting provincial election commissioner. A meeting of the ECP was held on Tuesday for the appointment of the new provincial election commissioner in which no decision was made. However, a decision is expected in today’s meeting.
