RAWALPINDI: Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General (DG) Major General Asif Ghafoor said on Wednesday that Lyari’s notorious gangster Uzair Baloch has been taken into custody on charges of espionage.
He said the gangster has been taken into custody under Pakistan Army Act/Official Secret Act 1923 over leakage of information to foreign intelligence agencies. Earlier this month, sources told a private TV channel that Baloch is due to face trial in a military court as he was allegedly in contact with foreign spy agencies, including the Indian Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) and an Iranian intelligence agency. “The gang leader was arrested in a targeted operation outside Karachi, in the early hours of Saturday as he attempted to enter the metropolis,” a press release issued by the paramilitary force had stated. Baloch was arrested on January 30, 2016 by Sindh Rangers who claimed to have apprehended him from outside Karachi.
