HYDERABAD: A judicial commission headed by Justice Iqbal Kalhoro formed to investigate supply of drinking water and sewage system to the people of Sindh on Saturday during the hearing in High Court Circuit Bench Hyderabad asked several questions to the concerned officers about water supply schemes and disposal of solid waste.
The concerned officers answered the questions and gave details about water supply and sewage system and arrangements to dispose off waste.
The Justice Muhammad Iqbal Kalhoro ordered to ensure supply of safe drinking water to the people and to get drinking water samples tested. He asked all the concerned officers about water supply and Reverse Osmosis (RO) plants in detail. He was informed that it could take 60 to 75 days to provide clean drinking water to all the citizens while the sites were identified by Solid Waste Management Board where city’s solid waste would be disposed off.
He was also informed that hospital waste of different hospitals in Hyderabad were disposed off through incinerators while Rajputana hospital waste was being sent to Karachi for disposal temporary and the PC-I was being prepared for the installation of incinerator in the hospital.
Later Justice Muhammad Iqbal Kalhoro along with concerned officers visited New water filter plant where he inspected under-constructed Camical & Microbiological laboratory. He was informed that for under-constructed laboratory 8 to 10 people would be given training who would monitor the microbiological testing of water. The Justice Muhammad Iqbal Kalhoro directed the SSP Hyderabad to provide 24-hour security at new water filter plant. He also take briefing on treatment plant of Rs 915 millions at Darya Khan Pumping Station. He also inspected the anti-encroachment work at Gaja Mori in deh Seri and Akram wah.
