GUJRANWALA: The Model Town police on Saturday arrested eight PML-N workers under 16 MPO for displaying illegal weapons and blocking GT Road.
According to Model Town SHO Gohar Abbas, PML-N’s Hamza Youth Wing President Waleed Butt and others held a rally on GT Road without obtaining permission, displayed illegal arms and blocked the road which caused problems for motorists. He said eight accused have been arrested while raids were carried on to arrest the other accused persons.
Separately, five buffaloes were electrocuted when an 11Kv cable fell on them at Badoki Goasyan.
People protested against GEPCO for not shifting the cable from the populated area. The protesters alleged that they have complained several times but to no avail.
Meanwhile, robbers looted the house of the PTI vice president. Five men with arms entered the house and held the family at gunpoint and stole gold ornaments, cash and other valuables worth Rs 2.5 million.
Meanwhile, the Anti-corruption team arrested a junior clerk of industries department for receiving a bribe. Rana Rizwan submitted an application to the anti corruption team that junior clerk, Muhammad Kaleem, is demanding a bribe from him. On the application, Circle Officer Amir Hussain Sandhu along with Judicial Magistrate Imtiaz Baig conducted raid and caught the junior clerk red handed while receiving a bribe of Rs2,500. They then registered a case against him.
