DADU: Hemorrhagic septicemia disease locally named as “Ghogho” broke out in buffaloes in Dadu and its sub-divisions far-flung area.
Ghogho disease claimed lives of 30 buffaloes and many others buffaloes were ill, Daily Times learnt on Saturday.
The livestock department has been failed to save cattles’ despite having million rupees of funds as the department failed to take preventive measures against seasonal diseases, said told a buffalo owner Mehar Qumbarani.
Qumbarani said that within two days in UC Siyal’s 20 villages more than 30 buffaloes have been died due to Ghogho disease and severe were found ill. He alleged that he had informed this issue to livestock officials but they were not ready to cooperate with them for vaccinating their ill buffaloes. He said that due to the negligence of livestock officials of Dadu, their expensive buffaloes died of Ghogho disease.
Another victim Basher Jatoi, resident of village Hatim khan Jatoi said that in his village more than 50 buffaloes were ill and their conditions were weak. Jatoi said that in his village 5 buffaloes lost their lives but there was no initiative taken by livestock department to stop this dangerous disease. He demanded to livestock’s higher officials to take serious notice against livestock officials of Dadu as their expensive buffaloes will be saved from getting this disease.
DVM-Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Farooque Ahmed said that Hemorrhagic septicemia disease, locally called “Ghogho or Gulghatto” infected cattle cannot live more than 24 hours.
Ahmed said that Ghogho is a fatal disease which kills buffaloes in hot weather of June and July. He said that non-vaccination of cattle is the main cause of this disease. He warned that if no serious measures would be taken to stop Ghogho disease it can result to more loss of cattles in Dadu district.
District officer of livestock department of Dadu , Shadi Khan Shahani said that 11 livestock official’s team were sent in Dadu district’s sub-division for vaccination. He further added that more than 200 villages were declared vaccination and their team was working in Villages of Dadu included Ameninai, Mondar, Paat Sharref, village Murred, Parano dero and other villages. Mr Shadi Khan Shahani said that vaccinations were provided to all of the places from where they have been receiving complaints from Dadu.
