ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority’s (CDA) bank accounts have been unfrozen by a judgment of the Supreme Court (SC), which also overturned the Islamabad High Court’s (IHC) initial judgment.
The hearing of the case was conducted by a three member bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Saqib Nisar.
During the course of the hearing, the CDA’s counsel told the court that the civil agency had setup a commission to fix wages however the IHC had frozen its bank accounts before the commission’s report was released. He further prayed to the court to restore the respective bank accounts.
The CJP, who was heading the three member bench, directed the CDA to pay the property amounts owed to citizens immediately as it a matter of basic human rights. He added that if the price of the land was not paid he would himself conduct a hearing by calling back the case from the IHC.
At the end the apex court adjourned hearing the case for an indefinite period.
