SEHWAN SHARIF: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said that terrorism cannot be weeded out from the county by closing down shrines.
“Terrorism will not be eliminated from the country by closing shrines. We can not counter the terrorists by closing shrines of Bibi Pak Daman, Abdullah Shah Ghazi, Barri Imam and other shrines. Fighting the terrorists is the philosophy of these shrines. They should be reopened immediately and security be provided outside the shrines,” he said while talking to media on the occasion of his visit to Sehwan Sharif on Saturday.
He held that non-implementation of National Action Plan (NAP) is the biggest failure of the government. He added that a lack of reform in the criminal justice system has encouraged terrorists.
He took an overview of the shrine during his visit and said that his heart was crying tears of blood after seeing the situation of the injured and victims of the bomb blast.
He stressed, “Terrorists are targeting innocent people. There should be no talks with them. Strict action should be taken against them,” he stressed.
He said that the whole nation would have to be united for identifying terrorists. He added that there must be consensus of opinion in federation, provinces and every political party on this matter.
Replying to a question, Shah Mehmood said that it was not proper to target Chaudhry Nisar alone with regards to the wave of terrorism. He added that the federal government had evolved NAP in consultations with all the political parties, but unfortunately the federal government did not implement it.
