KARACHI: Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples’ Party, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, has extended his felicitations to the newly-elected President of the Karachi Union of Journalists (KUJ), Hasan Mansoor, General Secretary, Faheem Siddiqui, and other office-bearers of the Union. In a congratulatory message, the PPP Chairman said that strengthening the democratic traditions among journalist organizations was a good omen for the country and for democracy. He appreciated all the candidates who contested the KUJ elections in a truly democratic manner and hoped that those who won the election will remember and continue to uphold the freedom of expression and of the press. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that journalists are the ‘eyes’ of society and their role as an independent and impartial body is admired in every society.
