LAHORE: Justice Sayyed Mazhar Ali Akbar Naqvi of the Lahore High Court (LHC) Monday issued a notice to Higher Education Commission (HEC) Chairman Dr Mukhtar Ahmad on a petition challenging his appointment.
The court sought his reply and details of his academic credentials until March 20.
The court was hearing a petition filed by advocate Osama Memon challenging the appointment of Dr Mukhtar. The petition had alleged that Dr Mukhtar was appointed in violation of rules and regulations of the HEC.
It further alleged that Dr Mukhtar lacked experience and qualification required for the being the chairman of the HEC. The petitioner had said that Dr Mukhtar had secured PhD and MBA degrees simultaneously against the HEC rules.
The petitioner had also accused the HEC chairman of corruption of millions of rupees.
