ISLAMABAD: The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) revealed on Wednesday revealed that the black box report for the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) ATR42 operating as PK661 that crashed near Havelian confirms engine failure.
Media reports citing the secretary of Civil Aviation said that in light of the report, certain parts have been sent to France for further investigation. Moreover, the aircraft’s engine has been sent to Canada for further investigation as well.
The secretary also confirmed that the cockpit recording had been retrieved from the black box.
The secretary further said that Investigators will try to determine why the aircraft’s engine failed and a final report will be received within three months.
PIA is meanwhile still in the process of paying compensation to the families of the deceased. In line with international rules and regulations, PIA has summoned families of the victims to come to the airline’s Rawalpindi office on the 24th of March to identify belongings recovered from the crash site.
