LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that whole nation is united against the menace of terrorism.
Presiding over a meeting of Cabinet Committee on Law and Order her on Saturday, he said that the government was taking all possible measures to ensure protection of lives and properties of the citizens.
The chief minister directed authorities concerned to monitor the implementation on the devised security plan and speed up combing and search operation.
He said that indiscriminate action should be taken against those, who publish and distribute hate material and deliver inflammatory speeches.
“Full attention should be paid to security of mosques, imambargahs, churches and other places of worship,” he said, adding said that prevailing situation requires emergency steps. He said all the departments should proactively perform their duties to foil the nefarious designs of anti-state elements.
The committee condemned Parachinar incident, and expressed solidarity and condolence with the heirs of martyrs. The meeting also prayed for early recovery of the injured. Additional chief secretary briefed the chief minister on situation of law and order.
Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah, Ayyub Gadhi, Adviser Rana Maqbool Ahmad, chief secretary, senior officials of law enforcement agencies and others attended the meeting.
Separately, the chief minister has said that the government attaches top priority to promotion of quality education.
Felicitating position-holders of primary and middle examinations of the Punjab Examination Commission, Shahbaz said, “Our intelligent students have the ability to change the destiny of the nation and it is heartening to note that some of the students have secured positions with their commitment and hard work despite having limited resources.”
He vowed that the Punjab government would continue to provide necessary resources for their education. The Punjab government, he said, was implementing a comprehensive programme for the improvement of education sector.
Meanwhile, the chief minister Saturday said that those politicians, who are opposing development process, would face defeat in the next general elections.
Talking to a delegation of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders in Lahore, the chief minister said that elements levelling baseless allegations should remember their past. “They impeded the development and prosperity of the common man through their sit-ins and lockdown, and now they are afraid that the transparent completion of development projects would bring their remaining politics to an end.”
“These elements remained unsuccessful in the past and will remain unsuccessful in the future, while the government of Pakistan Muslim league-N will continue its journey of selfless public service under the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
