LAHORE: In an encounter with Counter Terrorist Department on Lahore’s Mall Road, ten terrorists have been killed. The terrorists were allegedly involved in the Lahore blast.
The Lahore blast killed over 14 people, including senior police officers during a protest by over a 100 chemists.
Following the blast the CTD personnel apprehended an alleged facilitator, Anwarul Haq after which several other suspects, too, were apprehended.
Anwarul Haq was being taken to Mnawan, a suburban area of Lahore, for the recovery of explosives when nine of his accomplices ambushed the CTD team. The exchange that took place killed 10 terrorists including the facilitators of the attack
The deceased terrorists were affiliated with the outlawed Jamaatul Ahrar, sources said.
Arms and explosives from the scene were also recovered.
This encounter came a couple of days after the attack on the van carrying census staffers in Lahore. The attack killed six and injured 15.
Four people were martyred in the bombing, a spokesperson for the Punjab government
“We were informed of a high-level security threat on March 29 but the target was unclear.” He further added.
The Islamabad-based Pakistan Bureau of Statistics promised to continue the data collection process as per schedule
