ISLAMABAD: Various religious and political organisations on Monday announced to carry out a countrywide campaign against terrorism, extremism and sectarian violence.
Addressing Unity of Ummah Conference, they also demanded that the government to arrest elements responsible for terrorism in Quetta and Parachinar, adding that terrorists attack at innocent people of Parachinar and Quetta is tantamount to attack at Pakistan. The participants condemned terrorism activities in Baitullah, saying that it is responsibility of every Muslim to ensure security and defense of Harmain Al Sharefain.
Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi, chairman Pakistan Ulema Council, chaired the conference. Abdul Hameed Wattoo, Asadullah Farooq, Syed Waqarul Hasnain, Shafi Qasmi, Sharif Hazarvi, Asim Makhdoom, Ghulamullah Khan, Sajjad Hussain Naqvi, Syed Zawar Naqvi, Tayyab Qadri, Zubair Zahid, Abdul Hameed Sabri, Tahirul Hassan, Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Naqshbandi, Anwar-ul-Haq Mujahid, Faisal Bilal, Tahir Aqeel, Mufti Faisal Hussain Naqshbandi, Qasim Ali, Aslam Qadri, Peer Azmatullah Gilani and Ashfaq Ahmad Patafi were also present.
The participants termed the Parachinar tragedy as a conspiracy against Pakistan, stating that Parachinar terrorist attack is not against any particular religious sect but an attack on Pakistan. The entire nation has to get united against terrorists. The speakers also resolved that any conspiracy to create sectarian violence in Pakistan will not be allowed. They also urged the government to public conspiracies of Indian and Afghan secret agencies at world forums. The leadership of Islamic schools of thought while denouncing terrorist bids on eve of Jumat-ul-Wida at Masjid-e-Nabvi said that elements responsible for these terrorist activities are followers of ‘Takfeeri thinking’.
Ashrafi announced that the conference will also be held in Faisalabad on 6th July.
The conference also demanded that the government take action against elements fanning sectarian violence in the country through social media.
The conference also adopted a resolution and emphasized that prevailing row between Qatar and Arab countries should be settled through Gulf Coordination Council. The resolution also urged Turkey to play its role to settle differences between Arab countries and Qatar.
The conference while adopting another resolution condemned decision of US administration for considering Kashmiri Hurriyet leader Syed Salahuddin as terrorist, saying that people of Pakistan disprove this stance of the US administration.
The conference also lauded role of Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa for containing sectarian violence incidents in the country.
The conference adopted another resolution stated that any conspiracy to make political chaos should be monitored among prevailing political scenario in the country. All the state institutions of the country should perform their responsibilities within constitutional limits. The conference while expressing heartfelt grief on Ahmedpur Sherqia tragedy demanded for fair investigations on the human tragedy and say condolence prayer for the victims of the tragedy.
