ISLAMABAD: A crucial meeting of the National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) executive board on Wednesday, in which filing of references against the Sharif family had to be approved, was postponed until today (Thursday) due to unavailability of the chief prosecutor.
According to sources, the meeting was delayed due to engagements of NAB Prosecutor General Waqas Qadeer Dar in Lahore. The meeting will now be held today (Thursday). NAB has to file the references until Sep 8. Regional offices of NAB in Lahore and Rawalpindi have sent four references against the Sharifs and Ishaq Dar. After approval of executive board, they will be filed in accountability court in Rawalpindi.
According to sources, the accountability court’s administrative judge will forward two references to the accountability court Rawalpindi and two references to the accountability court Islamabad.
Four references are being filed against ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif, his children Hassan, Hussain and Maryam, son-in-law Capt (r) Safdar, and Ishaq Dar. Out of four, two references have been prepared by the bureau’s regional office in Rawalpindi and two by its Lahore wing
According to sources, the executive board will also discuss whether a ‘last chance’ should be issued to Nawaz Sharif, his children and Dar to join the investigation process or not.
