KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami chief Hafiz Naeem Rehman on Sunday warned the government of strong agitation if the K-Electric and National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) failed to resolve the pending issues of people.
He was addressing a jirga in Bihar Colony, Lyari Town.
Both the institutions have been irking the life of Karachiites for so many years, he remarked.
K-Electric has been looting people through bogus billings, overcharging and unannounced power outages in the name of faults, he accused, adding that similar policies and incompetency of NADRA have also compelled the citizens to face serious problems. For more than a year that mega centres of NADRA would be established but there is nothing on ground.
Referring to a political event at Nishtar Park, about 60,000 employees of local government are surfaced when needed in political shows but vanished when it comes to solve the problems, pertaining to local bodies, local government failed on the expectations of people, Naeem pointed out.
“We would not allow anyone to plunder and will go unchecked,” he said, the politics of plundering would not be allowed anymore.
The politics of hate gave nothing to Karachi and there is no more room for hate politics on the basis of divide in Karachi.
Pakistan People’s Party and Muttahida Qaumi Movement ruined the city of lights, he alleged.
The government should ensure merit in provision of jobs for Karachiites and rights as well as quota of minorities in employment, he demanded.
