MARDAN: A local court on Thursday sent seven suspects in Mashal murder case to Mardan Central Jail on judicial remand.
The police produced Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan Central Library office assistant Mohammad Ajmal Khan, Employees Union President Anis, Botany Department office assistant Mujibullah, Imran, Nasurullah, Shoaib and a student Farhan in the court after a four-day physical remand.
Sources said that the accused pleaded not guilty, after which the court sent them to jail on judicial remand.
On Thursday, the police and agencies also arrested two more suspects from Charsadda district: Mohammad Ishaq Khan of Pakhtun Students Federation (PkSF) and Mohammad Tariq. Sources said the police had so far arrested 32 suspects in the Mashal murder case.
On Tuesday, local journalists announced boycott of police coverage after they were denied information by the district police officer (DPO), but later the DPO visited the Mardan Press Club and explained that he was busy investigating a case.
