ISLAMABAD: The ICC Champions Trophy-winning Pakistan Cricket Team was awarded cash prizes by the management of The Centaurus Mall at a ceremony on Thursday.
Hundreds of people hailing from political, bureaucratic, business and other spheres of life attended the award distribution ceremony. National team captain Sarfraz Ahmad was awarded Rs500,000 and a one-kanal plot at Taj Residencia. Opening batsman Fakhar Zaman was also given Rs500,000, while other members of the winning team got Rs200,000 each. In a video message, Pak-Gulf Construction (Pvt) Ltd. president Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan vowed to continue working for the promotion of sports activities in Pakistan.
He paid rich tribute to the National Cricket Team for showing outstanding performance in ICC Champions Trophy 2017, especially for defeating Indian Cricket Team in the final. Khan said that Pakistan Cricket Team had been steadfast in its performance in international matches over the years, and that the triumph in Champions Trophy showed the team’s commitment to the profession and the nation. On behalf of Pak Gulf Construction (Pvt) Ltd, Khan vowed to advance maximum facilities and support to the national team in future. Earlier, the National Cricket Team was warmly welcomed upon their arrival at Taj Residencia by the management of PGCL and The Centaurus. The cricket team also planted pine trees as a memorial to their visit.
