ISLAMABAD: A joint anti-terror exercise ‘DRUZBA 2017’ between the special forces of Pakistan and Russia started in Minralney Vody, Russia, on Monday.
The opening ceremony was attended by senior military officials of both countries, said Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). The joint exercise will focus on counter-terrorism operations, hostage and rescue, and cordon and search operations, the statement added. The joint exercise will enhance and further strengthen military ties between both the countries, the military’s media wing said. It is the second time in a year that Pakistan and Russia are holding joint military exercises. In September, 2016, a contingent of 100 Russian troops took part in a joint exercise in Pakistan. The Foreign Ministry has said that Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa will visit Moscow in October.
