SOUTH WAZIRISTAN: A soldier was martyred and another soldier was left injured on Monday after an IED exploded near an armed forces vehicle in South Waziristan.
reportedly a remote controlled device targeted the vehicle as it was on on its routine patrol.
South Waziristan Agency directly borders Paktika province of Afghanistan and has been a hub for militants.
An operation to eradicate militants in this area was launched in 2009 but security forces are still targeted here sporadically.
The Army launched a clean up operation in restive North Waziristan Agency after which the area was cleared of militants.
