GUJRANWALA: Punjab Local Government and Community Development Minister Mansha Ullah Butt said that information technology (IT) was a must for progress and development of any nation.
He said that Punjab government was investing heavily to provide the students with modern technology and about 310,000 lap tops had been distributed by the Punjab government among the students of Punjab and other provinces.
He said the establishment of IT labs in all high and middle schools of the province was a proof of “Parho Punjab Barho Punjab”, vision of Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
He said this while addressing a laptop distribution ceremony among students in Gujranwala.
2,179 laptops were distributed at the occasion. The minister said that progress, stability in the country could be brought about only through education. He said that distribution of laptops among students would open up new avenues of progress and development.
Diabetes awareness walk: A walk was organized by Social Security Hospital to create awareness about diabetes among citizens. DHQ Hospital MS Dr Anwar Aman, Dr Tayyab Sarwar Mir, other doctors, paramedical staff and people from different walks of life participated in the walk.
The speakers stressed the need to adopt preventive measures to prevent diabetes.
Meanwhile, a medical camp was also organised by the hospital administration in which patients were provided with free check-up and medicines.
