SUKKUR: Opposition leader in the National Assembly Syed Khurshid Shah has said that prolonged Faizabad sit-in indicates that the government has lost its writ in the country Talking to the media here on Monday, the opposition leader said that the rulers should leave power if they could not end the protest of a few people. He said that the government had failed to tackle the existing crisis in the country.
Responding to a question, he said that former prime minister Nawaz Sharif should follow the constitutional way, which was to respect the decisions of the court. He maintained that the situation would worsen if Nawaz Sharif followed retaliation policy. “If the government doesn’t want to take action against protesters it should quit. The sit-in shows the government is weak and indicates the end of its writ.”
To a question, the opposition leader said that Nawaz himself let Musharraf fly abroad and was now crying foul over it. He said that it was the Nawaz-led government, not the judiciary, which allowed former military dictator Pervez Musharraf to leave the country. Supporting Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawmaker Dawar Khan Kundi, he said that the MNA did not say anything wrong while the real face of KP police had come in front of everyone.
Shah also advised Finance Minister Ishaq Dar to resign from his post over moral grounds. Shah said that in the country’s 70-year history, only the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) had completed its five-year tenure. “We want Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz-government to complete its tenure,” he added. The PPP leader said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s demand for early elections was ‘unnecessary’.
