HYDERABAD: Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah on Wendesday said that slain Naqeebullah Mehsud would be served justice soon and that extrajudicial killings would not be tolerated in the province.
Speaking to journalists, Sindh CM said that former Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) Rao Anwar, who spearheaded Naqeebullah’s alleged encounter, has neither been granted an NOC nor a leave by the Sindh government.
He also said that the provincial government does not have to order Inspector-General (IG) Sindh AD Khawaja to arrest suspended SSP Rao since the police is independently obliged to take immediate action in such cases.
Earlier on orders of IG Khawaja, Additional IG Sindh Sanaullah Abbasi headed committee last week on Thursday summoned former SSP Rao who was later sacked from his post after evidences provided by him related to Naqeebullah’s criminal record and alleged links with Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) were deemed bogus by the probing unit.
On Monday, Rao Anwar failed to appear before the committee for a second inquiry session while early on Tuesday, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) foiled the former SSP’s attempt to leave the country from Benazir International Airport.
The Supreme Court (SC) of Pakistan has ordered hearing of Naqeebullah case on January 27.
Naqeebullah Mehsud, a 27-year-old South Waziristan native, was gunned down in an alleged encounter on January 13 in Shah Latif town.
