LAHORE: The civil society activists condemned the ‘hatred and defamatory’ remarks used by a TV anchor against missing bloggers and activist Salman Haider on Tuesday.
Civil Society Network Pakistan (CSNP) President Abdullah Malik told Daily Times that TV anchor Aamir Liaquat, in his programme Aisay Nahi Chalay Ga, which was broadcasted on 21st Jan, 2017 and 23rd Jan, 2017 at Bol TV at 10.30pm, has not only instigated the public against social activists, but he has maneuvered the facts against the demands of civil society.
“Dr Aaamir also provoked the extremists, fundamentalists that they must attack us as we committed blasphemy by raising our voice against the disappearance of social activists like salman haider,” Abdullah added.
The CSNP president further claimed that civil society never supported any kind of hate speech. “Aamir Liaquat also tried to prove that we, the members of civil society, are RAW agent and we are candle vigil brigade,” Abdullah said adding that he also used abusive language towards women of media and keynote journalists.
Abdullah said that when civil society activists were raising their voice for the workers of BOL TV a few months back, Aamir was broadcasting a programme against BOL TV. “PEMRA and intelligence agencies should take serious note against the person as he was defaming Military institutions,” Malik said.
On behalf of the civil society, Abdullah also warned the Bol TV anchor that if he continues his hatred, then civil society also reserved their right to file a case against him in the higher courts as such type of anchors must be banned for their whole life.
