ISLAMABAD: Hussain Nawaz’s lawyer Salman Akram Raja on Tuesday as continued arguments in the Supreme Court (SC) during Panama Leaks hearing.
A five-member larger bench, headed by Justice Asif Saeed Khosa, resumed the hearing. The court remarked that Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif didn’t mention Qatari investment as a funding source for London flats in his speech, but Hussain Nawaz said that the flats were purchased via investment.
“Questions would automatically be raised as the arguments showed that PM’s family was living in the flats from past thirteen years but the property was purchased in 2006”, the bench added. The lawyer told the court that the flats were purchased by AlThani family, through offshore companies in 1993-1996.
Justice Gulzar asked when PM’s children shifted to the flats, to which Salman Akram Raja answered that Hassan Nawaz and Hussain Nawaz resided in the flats in 1993 due to good terms with AlThani family.
Justice Gulzar asked, “How were the 12 million dirhams acquired?” Salman Akram replied that the court should summon Tariq Shafi and ask him about the money.
National Accountability Bureau (NAB) also submitted details regarding not registering appeal against Finance Minister Ishaq Dar.
