LAHORE: The wheat procurement campaign for Lahore division was formally started in all wheat procurement centres of the provincial capital after distribution of gunny bags among farmers here on Saturday.
A total of 42,000 metric tonnes of wheat would be procured as per the defined target.
In this connection, Punjab Minister for Communication and Works (C&W) Tanvir Aslam Awan along with Punjab housing secretary, Lahore division Commissioner Abdullah Khan Sumbal and Lahore Deputy Commissioner Sumair Ahmed Syed visited Khana and Raiwind wheat procurement centres on Saturday.
On the occasion, assistant commissioners Anwar Baryar and Ali Akbar briefed the entire visiting team on the working of wheat procurement centres and their procurement targets.
Tanvir Aslam Awan said that the Punjab government had taken inclusive steps for procurement of wheat. He appreciated the entire district administration for making outstanding arrangements at all wheat procurement centres.
The members of team, constituted by the Punjab government to monitor the process of wheat procurement centres in Lahore, also held talks with farmers on arrangements being provided to them at wheat procurement centres.
