WASHINGTON DC: Special Assistant to Prime Minister for Foreign Affairs Syed Tariq Fatemi met the top leadership of US Senate Committee for Foreign Relations at the Capitol Hill.
Fatemi briefed the Committee Chairman Senator Bob Corker and Senator Ben Cardin on matters of national security and role played by Pakistan in improving economy and stability in the country during the last three years.
Fatemi hailed the role played by the US Congress in the assistance for critical counter-terrorism operations that helped Pakistan in destroying the terrorist networks operating from FATA.
Fatemi also highlighted the constant human rights violations in the Indian occupied Kashmir, the tension across the Line of Control (LOC) and its consequences for the entire peace process. Adding further, he said that Pakistan is still in favour to solve issues with India through dialogue but violations by India would never solve any issue.
It is pertinent to mention that Fatemi is currently in US to meet the current US administration and those who will likely join the new administration under President-elect Donald Trump.
