ISLAMABAD: An official of the Ministry of Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) said on Thursday that the government has allocated billions of rupees to develop the area including construction of universities and hospitals.
According to a report quoting an official, the government will soon announce a 30 years Forest Working Plan, Timber Policy and Tourist Policy for the region with the collaboration of GB council.
The official said the renovation of Skardu Airport was also in progress while a feasibility report on widening the Gilgit Airport is being prepared.
For the Karakoram International University’s expansion, the government has allocated land in a bid to provide the locals with better education facilities, the official concluded.
