ISLAMABAD: State Minister for Information Marriyum Aurangzeb has said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is the most popular leader according to all surveys conducted since he assumed the Prime Minister’s Office for the third time.
Speaking to a private TV channel on Tuesday, she said that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) workers would not accompany the premier, as he (Nawaz) had already advised the party workers to exercise restraint given the prevailing situation.
To a question, the minister said that parliament was an independent institution and parliamentarians should keep its sanctity intact.
To another question, she said that Sharif family had the right of expressing reservations over the conduct of the Joint Investigation Team (JIT), and it had also approached the apex court in this regard.
Referring to the Suadi-led Islamic Alliance, Marriyum said that the defence minister had briefed parliament about Pakistan stance on the alliance.
Replying to another question, she said that banners displayed in Islamabad in support of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif did not have any link with Panama Papers of the JIT, and were only meant to hail the leadership of the premier for hosting the conference of the Economic Cooperation Organisation (ECO).
