ISLAMABAD: Israeli forces should refrain from violating the sanctity of the Al Aqsa Mosque, said speakers at the Tahaffuz-e-Haramain Al Sharifain, Al Aqsa Conference on Thursday.
Several diplomats from Islamic countries and religious scholars attended the conference.
Addressing the conference, Palestinian Ambassador to Pakistan Waleed Abu Ali stated that the Israeli forces had locked down the Al Aqsa Mosque. “This is part of the Israeli leadership’s strategy. The entire Muslim Ummah should unite for freedom of Al Aqsa Mosque and security of Haramain Al Sharifain. Israeli conspiracies are not limited to Palestine. They aim at destabilising the entire Muslim world,” Abu Waleed said. He urged Muslim countries to join hands to deal with the designs of the Israeli leadership.
“Israeli leadership has installed electronic gates in Al Aqsa Mosque. Even the elderly, women and children are not being allowed to enter without checking,” he said.
He praised the efforts of Pakistan Ulema Council for raising voice for the cause of Palestinians.
Maulana Dr Saeed Inayatullah said that Muslim Ummah should pursue moderate way and urged ulema to play a role in this regard.
Pakistan Ulema Council Chairman Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi said that differences among Muslim countries should be eliminated. “Israel and India have joined together to crush freedom movements in Kashmiri and Palestinian. This alliance can only be contained through unity,” Ashrafi said.
He also criticised the government for being silent on the Palestine issue. Maulana Atahullah Shahab said that the people of Pakistan were emotionally attached with the people of Palestine. He denounced the locking of Al Aqsa Mosque by the Israeli leadership. The conference adopted a resolution and praised the stance of Saudi Arabia on Al Aqsa Mosque.
The conference urged United Nations and human rights organisations to take notice of the human rights violations being committed by Israel.
