ISLAMABAD: Another massive scandal of Rs 47 million in Pakistan Railways (PR) has been unearthed in a detailed report.
According to a report, the parliamentary committee has been directed to take strict action against the corrupt officials. The report alleged that the railways officers purchased machinery worth of Rs 5 million, due to this, the national fund suffered a great loss.
The report also said that the department’s corrupt officers, in the name of commercial activities on the different railways station of Multan, stole three million rupees. Report added that sleepers of Khanewal factory caused a great loss to the department, purchasing substandard goods worth Rs 62 million.
The report revealed that some corrupt officers of Rawalpindi Railways rented out 425 shops on the old agreement and sold out diesel which caused the department to lose Rs 1.74 million.
Pakistan Railways had to bear a great loss of Rs 1.5 million due to the operational shuttle train between Kachlaq Quetta from Sohrab.
According to another report the railway faces a loss worth five million annually due to their failure to renew the agreement inked with Coca Cola eight years ago, for setting up the stalls in Sakhar Region.
