ISLAMABAD: Around 14,628 Pakistani migrant workers were detained in jails of different countries from 2005 till 2015. This was revealed in a report issued by Labour Migration from Pakistan 2015.
The report showed that around 5,171 migrant workers are detained in jail in Abu Dhabi, 400 in Baghdad, 336 in Doha, 1,621 in Jeddah, 2, 927 in Kuwait, 1,655 in Manama, 284 in Milan, 2,177 in Muscat, and 57 in Seoul. However there was not even a single one was detained in Dubai.
A total of 932,051 migrant workers were stranded in the destination countries without proper documents, and 48,160 irregular migrant workers deported back to Pakistan with the support of government funds.
