ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Representative at the United Nations (UN) Dr Maleeha Lodhi has said that basic reasons should be addressed to control human smuggling.
Taking part in the UN Security Council’s debate to control human smuggling, Dr Maleeha Lodhi said that human smuggling can’t be controlled until disputes were not addressed.
She said Pakistan has taken several steps to control human smuggling. She stressed for protection of women and children rights and said that crimes against women are on rise in the disputed areas.
UN Secretary-General António Guterres said that Member States must strengthen cooperation on law enforcement and intelligence-sharing to control human trafficking.
