KARACHI: Protesting Young doctors including postgraduate trainees and house officers of the Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) have postponed their planned strike call after assurances by the Sindh Health Department to resolve their issues.
However, doctors warned that if their demands were not met by next month, March 10th to be precise, they would be boycotting all health services.
A delegation of CHK Young Doctors’ Association under its president, Dr Waris Jakherani, met Sindh Health Secretary Dr Fazlullah Pechuho and shared their grievances with the authority.
Sharing the details of the meeting with Daily Times, Dr Jakherani said the Health Secretary had assured them that their issues would be resolved.
“All we want is the resolution of our issues which were genuine and solvable. We want an immediate resolution of issues so that we may deliver better health services without agony and distress,” he said.
Earlier, protesting doctors had set Monday as a deadline and warned that if their demands, regarding a raise in their salaries, were not met by the authorities, they would begin boycotting all health services from Tuesday. This would include the complete boycott of OPDs and elective surgeries.
