LAHORE: Justice Ayesha A Malik of the Lahore High Court (LHC) Friday dismissed petition of an Afghan national, Gul Rehman, challenging suspension of his Pakistani national identification card by the Interior Ministry.
The court held that the petition was not maintainable, as the Interior Ministry had issued a notice to the petitioner, and instead of replying to the petition, he had approached the court.
Counsel for petitioner said that Gul and his family members were living in Pakistan for the past many decades but the ministry had suspended their identification cards. He claimed that the decision of the Interior Ministry was illegal. He requested the court to order the ministry to restore the identity card of the petitioner and his family members.
