LAHORE: As many as 35 kite flyers were arrested and 30 cases were registered against offenders after police carried out operations in different parts of Lahore on Sunday.
Despite multiple crackdowns and operations conducted by the police going dating back to at least three months, offenders continue to surface every week.
According to police, they took people into custody from Baghbanpura, Shalimar, Sanda, Islampura, ShadBaghm Raiwind and Misri Shah areas while recovering large amounts of kites and string.
Director Inspector General (DIG) operations Dr Haider Ashraf repeated that kite flying is strictly banned and strict action would be taken against the offenders adding that parents should discourage their children from taking part in such illegal activities.
At least 145 arrests were made and 4000 kites, rolls and strings were recovered during the last month.
