LAHORE: The City Traffic Police (CTP) has decided to set up four new driving schools in different areas of the city to facilitate citizens regarding driving licences.
The new driving schools will be functional within next three months.
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Rai Ijaz Ahmed said that thousands of people, including women, senior citizens and students, had been given training at Thokar Niaz Baig driving school since 2014. He said that the purpose to establish the new driving schools is to facilitate citizens. He added that the CTP was committed to serving the public.
“It is need of the hour to establish more driving schools. We can control accidents on roads by providing best training to young drivers,” and added that the new driving schools to set up in Defence, Iqbal Town, Saddar Division and City Division.
The officer said that road accidents could be averted if motorists would follow traffic rules and laws. He said that untrained drivers posed a serious threat to other citizens. Untrained drivers, he said, are responsible for most of the road mishaps.
The CTO said that people, worldwide, attended regular classes at driving schools and they are allowed driving on roads only after successful completion of their training.
He said that his department had been imparting three-week training to new drivers at the Thokar Niaz Baig training centre. He also appealed to the parents to get their children enrolled at driving schools.
Rai Ijaz said that well-educated male and female traffic instructors would deliver lectures at the new driving schools to train youth on driving as well traffic rules. He said that those candidates, who would pass their exams, would get their driving license without driving test.
